(Source: Speed Skating Canada) Ted-Jan Bloemen of Calgary, AB, broke the world record in the 10,000m distance with a time of 12:36.30, more than five seconds faster than the previous mark, to win the gold medal at the ISU World Cup Long Track Speed Skating in Salt Lake City, U.S.A. The second stage of the 2015-2016 season will end on Sunday. Bloemen beat the previous world mark of 12:41.69, which was set by Sven Kramer of the Netherlands on March 10, 2007, in a performance which also took place in Salt Lake City.
